Bio
Rhapsody is a soulful dog with trust issues but also plenty of potential. When she arrived at SARA she was at her most vulnerable state, exhausted from her time at the pound and overly protective of her newborn puppies. Handling Rhapsody and her pups was a challenge for our team at first, as she shied away from physical contact and snarled at anyone approaching her offspring. Once the puppies were weaned and moved to a different enclosure, Rhapsody was finally able to relax and open up to humans. While she now enjoys one-on-one time and cuddle sessions with her SARA caretakers, se approaches strangers with caution. Rhapsody is looking for an experienced adopter who can help her settle in a reassuring environment and with appropriate guidance. Beneath her furry coat she is fairly small, measuring around 50 cm shoulder height and weighing 20 kg.
Background
Rhapsody is a Samoyed - pure breed or mixed, we can't tell for sure. Samoyeds are rare and expensive in Morocco we presume that she was bred for profit and kept as a pet at first. Whatever happened, Rhapsody ended up at the dog pound, pregnant. She gave birth in the most crowded and stressful environment one could imagine. We rescued the little family in the summer of 2023. Rhapsody weaned her two puppies - Roman and Ria - at our farm refuge. Both pups have since been adopted, one in Morocco and the other in Germany. Rhapsody remains at the refuge. She is ready to travel abroad, just waiting for a loving adopter.
