Bio
I'm Tixi, a lively young lady with a strong character. My struggle for survival at a tender age taught me to be resilient and adaptable. Ever since I was little I've been confident around other dogs. Socialising comes naturally to me and I enjoy playing with my mates, but I don't let anyone bully me or snatch my food. In my previous foster home I learnt house rules and leash walking. It was hard on me to get separated from my foster parent and accustomed to shelter life. I long for attention and am eager to connect with humans - women and men alike. It will probably take me some time to really bond with a new person and to get settled, but if you offer me affection, safety and structure I'll be your companion for life. I'm food motivated and enjoy ball games so training me in a playful manner should be an easy task. Given my higher than average prey drive I'm unsuited for cohabitation with cats, birds or rodents.
Background
Tixi and her brother Senni had a miserable start in life: separated from their mother when we were just weeks old and barely weaned, they were dumped on the barren land that surrounds the football stadium of Agadir. Stuck inside a plastic bag, the puppies were bound to die - had it not been for the intervention of Nadia, a local resident who fed and looked after them among other dogs roaming the area. When poison was put out to eliminate strays in anticipation of the Africa Cup, Nadia brought the puppies home for safekeeping. Tixi and Senni got their first health checks and vaccines and stayed at Nadia's for a period of five months along with her own big pack of dogs. The siblings adjusted well but were never meant to stay, so Nadia placed them at SARA while searching for adopters in Morocco and abroad. Sadly nothing has worked out to date and we are therefore presenting the two dogs on our homepage. Like most dogs who have experienced the joys of a human home, Tixi and Senni are ill suited for shelter life. As the more confident of the sibling, Tixi copes alright sharing an enclosure with a dozen other dogs, but she is nevertheless frustrated and in need of a permanent home.
