Bio
I'm Senni, a soulful and sensitive junior with anxiety issues. Life hasn't been easy on me and my sister Tixi: left to our own devices at a tender age we faced loneliness, hunger and fear. Thankfully we also experienced human kindness. Growing up with a foster family, I settled in well with the resident dogs, respected house rules and learnt to walk on leash. I was friendly with men and women alike, enjoying ball games and cuddles with foster mum. Getting relocated to SARA and readjusting to an unfamiliar pack of dogs has been tough though. While my sister is coping alright, I don't know how to handle all this noise and turbulence in the absence of human guidance. At the shelter I've been acting out - avoiding peers, snarling at staff and climbing fences. Frankly, I'm a nervous wreck right now. What I need to settle down and form a bond is a calmer environment and an empathetic adopter, preferably someone experienced. I'm well suited for cohabitation with other dogs and have no gender preferences (full disclosure: I was totally in love with one of the older males at my foster home). Given my low prey drive I probably won't mind cats and rodent; introductions at the refuge are possible upon request.Note that I don't enjoy car rides, so don't expect me to join a road trip just yet.
Background
Senni and his sister Tixi had a miserable start in life: separated from their mother as they were just a few weeks old and barely weaned, they were dumped on the barren land that surrounds the football stadium of Agadir. Stuck inside a plastic bag, the puppies were bound to die - had it not been for the intervention of Nadia, a local resident who fed and looked after them among other dogs roaming the area. When poison was put out to eliminate strays in anticipation of the Africa Cup, Nadia brought the puppies home for safekeeping. Senni and Tixi got their first health checks and vaccines and stayed at Nadia's for a period of five months along with her own big pack of dogs. The siblings adjusted well but were never meant to stay, so Nadia placed them at SARA while searching for adopters in Morocco and abroad. Sadly nothing has worked out to date and we are therefore presenting the two dogs on our homepage. Like most dogs who have experienced the joys of a human home, Senni and Tixi are ill suited for shelter life. Senni's nervous behaviour generates tension among his peers and challenges for our staff.
