Bio
May has a sweet and gentle personality. Her disability does not stop her from enjoying life. She's so happy when we come to see her and spend time with her. She loves being out in her wheelchair - moving around, sniffing, exploring and simply enjoying being a dog. After everything she's been through, May deserves the chance to know what it feels like to be truly loved in a safe home. Given May's limited mobility and special needs, her adopter must bring patience, lots of time, and a suitable outdoor space (garden or yard) for May to safely move about on wheels.
Background
May was found in January 2026 - a five months old puppy with severed hind legs, barely alive. We don't know how this terrible injury happened, whether it was deliberate abuse or a freak road accident. After months of daily care, wound dressings and guided exercise, May's leg stumps have healed. She is able to stand on her own but needs a wheelchair to move about without putting too much weight on the stumps. We do our best to prevent sores and to get her moving about on wheels, but our refuge is not equipped for dogs like May in the long term and we cannot dedicate enough time to her physical training. Therefore, we absolutely need to find a family able to care for her or a partner refuge specialised in caring for animals with special needs.
