I’m Anika, or miss sparkle, known for my cheerful, lively nature. I absolutely adore people and love spending time with my SARA friends. My enthusiasm is hard to miss. The joy of seeing human visitors gives me the zooms and an urge to wag my tail til it hurts. I also get along wonderfully with other dogs, which makes me a great pack member. As you may have understood by now, I'm full of energy and need space to let off steam.

Me and my siblings all have distinctive Sloughi features. Perhaps we take after our dad, because our long-haired and mum didn't look much like us. I'm naturally slim and used to weigh 19kg but I gained a bit of weight. With more exercise I'll get back in shape.

My adopter should enjoy exercising outdoors with me, such as running or biking. A home with other dogs and a garden would be perfect. Don't worry, I do know to calm down when I’ve had my fun outdoors. I've heard great things about my siblings after they got adopted. With the right guidance I can do just as well.

Background

Born on the streets of Inzgane, a suburb of Agadir, Anika and her three siblings were threatened with poisoning and seeking shelter from heavy rain when a concerned resident reached out to SARA for help. We rescued them together with their mum, Monika, and the family stayed together at our farm shelter until the little ones were independent. Anika is the only one of her family still left at the shelter. The others have long been adopted, living between Canada and Switzerland.

After confirming your adoption, we’ll assist with travel logistics to bring your new friend home safely and cost-effectively. If you’re in Morocco or can visit, you’re welcome to pick up your dog directly from us and have a tour of the animal refuge.

We’ll evaluate your application and discuss with you whether the dog(s) you’re interested in are a good match. If not, we’ll suggest other wonderful dogs that share a similar appearance, yet better suit your lifestyle and expectations.
